My Mom and Dad need a little help.

August 26th, 2008 hexsane Posted in Random Discussion No Comments »

My Dad is currently in the hospital suffering from congestive heart failure and kidney failure. This is taking a huge toll on them financially. My mother is an author and has written two books. “The Little Old Lady Next Door” and “An Awfully Lonely Place“. The first was nominated for a literary award in Virginia the second was publish earlier this year. Both are very good. If you, your spouse, family or friends enjoy a good book please consider buying one and helping them out or, at least, let others know about them. The Amazon links are referral links and all proceeds from any sales (even if it isn’t one of moms books) will go directly to them. Thanks for your help.

Age of Conan Fiction

I’ve come across fictional stories based around the Age of Conan realms written by Michael Lafferty. He has written 7 stories so far and the few I’ve read are nicely done. The images used in the shorts are shots from the game and appear to be selected with care to match the story. Interestingly, they could have quest spoilers in them so use caution when reading (or go read up and discover something useful for your next adventure).

Okay. The domain is transfered and I’ll be your humble host from now on. I’ll be known around here as hexsane. I still have some updating to do but I should be able to get most things sorted out in the next week or so. I’m a huge Conan fan in general so there will be additional content other than Age of Conan being added to this site. Thanks for stopping by!

Age of conan fansite

June 4th, 2008 hexsane Posted in Random Discussion No Comments »

Hey everyone,

Part of my duties as a webmaster is exchanging links, building links, building relationships and most importantly keeping the reader interested. I hopefully have accomplished the goal so far and wish to thank all of you have regularly read my age of conan fansite.

I bring to you a monthly feature hopefully that will generate interest for many sites and perhaps for my own.

It will be called the monthly age of conan fansite listings. So far I have noticed the following sites who regularly visit my site or that I believe are offering something completely different than my blog.

Huma
http://www.ageofconan.hu/

You offer something definately I do not haha. An age of conan fansite in Hungarian. For those of you who can’t read Hungarian Huma offers very high quality content (images, pictures and videos) regardless of language. I suggest you check out the site as well as it is top notch.

Andrew
http://aocblog.com

Andrew runs an age of conan blog as well. However what he writes about is much different than what I do. I believe that his site is very complimentary to mine. He usually catches what I miss so it is an excellent resource!

Marz
http://aocnation.net

I met Marz on the age of conan forums as we were both struggling to get interest in our respective sites. We exchanged contact information and the rest was history. Think myspace but for age of conan. This site has a ton of potential and can be one of the key destinations for socializing with and meeting fellow age of conan players. If Age of Conan reaches it large potential as I believe it can then this site is something to be a part of.

Sorry for no game updates today! Stay stuned to my age of conan blog

WoW vs. AoC..Battle of the mmorpgs

May 22nd, 2008 hexsane Posted in Random Discussion 4 Comments »

Hey everyone,

Before you run off and delete my site from your bookmarks(which you’ve hopefully done by now =D) I am going to discuss an important topic in the mmorpg community. World of warcraft versus age of conan.

I honestly believe that these games are NOTHING a like. The only WoW killer I believe will be blizzard. Can they hold the attention of the player much longer? With games like Warhammer and AoC on the horizon and currently out; it can be tough for them. It looks like their latest expansion could be their last as they decide to work on other projects. I’ll discuss briefly what each games demographic player is on and some of the successes with each.

WoW

  1. Top selling MMORPG
  2. Ages ??-whatever(anyone can really play)
  3. Most popular time card EVER. Not only kids pick the card up. Adults who are paranoid about security do as well.
  4. Nearly any computer in the last 5 years can play this game easily. A much wider demographic in terms of sales for Blizzard
  5. Defined the current definition of “success” for an MMORPG
  6. Highly innovative(many easy quests, good UI, less grind, excellent raid encounters)
  7. New expansion pack coming out

AoC

  1. New Combat system
  2. PvP focused
  3. Easy quest system(faster than WoW)
  4. Aimed at 18+(not always the case though)
  5. Need quite a good machine to run.
  6. Not elves and orcs
  7. New game in general

These games are both great. Not one is better than the other honestly. Sure some might say “LOL WOW IS FOR KIDZ” and vice versa for Age of Conan. Those statements are highly opinionated. However we as MMORPG players should appreciate that there is a variety of choice for us. No matter what happens in the battle of these MMORPG’s the real winners are the players themselves.

Thanks for reading my age of conan blog everyone. I’ll be posting more progress pictures later on. Stay tuned!
